Our Colleagues Give Thanks by Giving Hope

Maria Cabric, who works in ER registration at HCA Florida Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, has spent years supporting patients during their most stressful moments. In September 2024, her own life was turned upside down, and Maria needed help.
When Hurricane Helene made landfall, it destroyed her family’s home. Maria said, “Our family of five had nothing – no furniture, no clothes, nothing.” Just weeks later, before they could begin to recover from the damage from Hurricane Helene, Hurricane Milton struck. The second storm halted cleanup, leaving Maria’s family displaced and overwhelmed.
Encouraged by her leaders, Maria turned to the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund. Within days, she received financial assistance to cover deposits and first month’s rent for a new apartment, giving her family a safe place to start over.
Although her condominium is still under repair and her family’s complete recovery is ongoing, Maria says she has already experienced a lifeline – thanks to her colleagues.
“I can’t express how grateful I am,” Maria shared. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you to HCA Healthcare and all of my colleagues who gave us the support we needed when we had nowhere else to turn.”
