Vicki Fayard has worked as an administrative assistant at the Research Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology and the Research Medical Center School of Nuclear Medicine Technology in Kansas City, Missouri, for four years, guiding students from application through graduation and helping support the next generation of healthcare professionals.
In January 2024, her life changed in an instant when she was hit by an uninsured drunk driver. The crash left her with severe headaches, lingering migraines and intense arm pain that made sleeping difficult. After months of physical therapy and chiropractic care, an MRI revealed multiple herniated discs. Surgery became unavoidable.
During that bleak and overwhelming season, Vicki turned to the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund. She knew the Hope Fund was something special ever since she learned about it during orientation.
With surgery needed, her bills piled up leaving a financial burden that felt impossible to carry, but the Hope Fund stepped in to help. The assistance went far beyond financial relief for Vicki. She vividly remembers the day she received the approval email and began to cry.
“I was looking for hope,” she shared, “and I found it during one of the darkest periods of my life.”
