Andrea got help when her son needed treatment for seizures

Andrea Hunter is an ICU Manager and has been part of HCA Healthcare for more than four years. While handling medical care is part of her job, it is also a big part of her home life. Andrea’s son, Aiden, has had seizures since he was nine years old.

Aiden’s seizures were well managed until recently when they became worse. Andrea was relieved to discover a treatment was available to help, however it would require a trip across the country and a five week stay. “I don’t know many people who can leave their job and home for over a month and still be able to maintain,” she said. “I was at a loss as to how we were going to be able to pay for it.”

Andrea spoke to her HR department who told her to apply for assistance from the Hope Fund. The gift she received allowed her family to make the journey. “I was so touched by the fact that people wanted to help,” she said. Thanks to donations made by caring colleagues, Andrea said “we were able to relax and focus on our son.” She and her family are so grateful for the helping hand they were given at a difficult time. Andrea said, “Thank you for thinking of us. I can’t say thank you enough.”
