You Can Be the Reason Someone Like Chernise Finds Hope
Tags:

Chernise White is a team leader for Environmental Services at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. She was descending the stairs at her apartment during a power outage when she missed two steps and injured her knee. At first, she didn’t think it was serious but later learned she had torn her meniscus.
Her recovery took four months and caused her to fall behind on rent, which threatened her ability to pay her basic living expenses. Encouraged by her supervisor and HR director, she applied for assistance through the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund and was approved. “I cried for two days straight,” she said.
Now back at work and continuing physical therapy, Chernise is grateful for the support she received and has started donating to the Hope Fund to help others in need. “This is a great company that truly cares about its colleagues. You never know if you’ll be the person who needs it,” she said.
