After suffering a stroke, our colleagues helped Tianna care for her mom

Tianna, a Lead Patient Care Tech at Trident Medical Center in South Carolina, received a call she was not expecting, her mother had a stroke and was unable to move her left side.

Tianna was out of work for several weeks without pay as she helped her mother through her recovery. It was becoming impossible to keep up with her bills, and on top of that, her mother’s care was expensive. Her troubles peaked when, behind on her rent, she received a 30-day notice to vacate from her landlord. She pulled from every resource she had and was out of options. Tianna said, “I’m sitting on my couch, I can’t think straight, and I had a thought – let me try the Hope Fund.”

She was shocked at how quickly help was on the way. “I was so happy. I didn’t know what to do or how to pay my rent – it was a huge relief and helped me get back on my feet. I will forever be grateful.” As soon as Tianna returned to work, she started donating to the Hope Fund and encouraged her colleagues to do the same. “Give,” she said, “because it will come right back around. And if you really need help, you can go to the Hope Fund. It was an awesome experience.”
